India-China Border Face-Off Explained
India and China have been engaged in a major border standoff since early May that has heightened tensions between the two.
There have been several instances in the past where China has violated the border agreement between the two nations.
On June 15, 2020, in near sub-zero temperatures in the thin air of 15,000 feet above mean sea level, Chinese and Indian soldiers attacked each other with stones, iron rods and bamboo poles wrapped in barbed wire laced with nails.
The two neighbours have a chequered history of faceoffs and overlapping territorial claims along the Line of Actual Control.
Border patrols have often bumped into each other, resulting in occasional scuffles.
The scale, scope and swathe of the pressure across the border seem unprecedented.
Will the Elephant and Dragon fight be deescalated or are we witnessing a whole new volatile chapter unfold?
This video by FinBits India will explain you in detail about the history and trends at the LAC.
